Mountain Bike Personality of the Year – Singletrack Readers Award 2016

by 0

What a year for British mountain biking! As a country we’ve won stuff, we’ve hosted fantastic events, we’ve had adventurers adventuring and racers racing.

There are many, many people we could have had here, but we think you’ll agree that all three riders here deserve their nominations:

Rachel Atherton

A perfect season of wins, a great attitude to helping other riders, and enough time to take part in things like the Red Bull Fox Hunt. Not too bad for a woman still in her 20s.

Rachel

Steve Peat

Finally retiring from world cup racing this year, though we doubt we’ve seen the last of Peaty. Having inspired a generation and raced against another, it’ll be a well-earned break.

Peaty 3

Tracy Moseley

Not content with having been a World and World Cup Champion in downhill, Tracy turned her attention to enduro and dominated that too. And even though she said she wasn’t going to defend her EWS crown, it didn’t stop her from appearing at many races this year and winning most of them.

Tracy

(Yes, lots of you nominated him, but Martyn Ashton won the Singletrack Legend award last year, so we thought we’d give some other people some recognition)

And finally, we’ll also be awarding our Singletrack Legend Award on the night. It went to Martyn Ashton last year and the 2016 recipient will be no less deserving. You’ll have to find out who it is when we have the awards on Thursday September 29th.
