There’s beauty in these bits
Depicted alone against vibrant backgrounds, Tumblr’s The Super Component takes bike bits out of context- and makes for some awfully pretty pictures.
While the artist behind the images has chosen to remain anonymous and prints are not (yet) for sale, s/he seems willing to take requests via the site’s What bicycle component do you like? form.
Selections mostly range from the early ’80s through today, with both mountain and road well represented. On the dirt side, everything from the first production mountain rear derailleur (Shimano’s M700 “Deer Head) through SRAM’s current XX1 crankset are shown.
Is there anything that you feel would hold its own aesthetically? We’re rooting for a Ringle seatpost quick release (in turquoise or 3D Violet). Chime in below or, better still, at The Super Component.

How about a SRAM SR800 (IIRC) X-Ray Gripshift on an orange background?
I’ve still got a pair of those XT thumbies sat in one of my spares boxes in the garage. They were great at the time.
I had a pair of the XT Thumbies on my old Dynatech which was stolen some years back.
I miss that bike 🙁
They’re ace.
How about some Tee shirts?
My component choices:
Race Face turbine cranks or XY seatpost
X-lite Fly stem
Flite Ti saddle
XTR V-brake levers
Hope C2 caliper and / or lever
