There was more than just Avinox announced this week. Although it is understandable that the pioneering/reckless/pointless/amazing power of the new eebs got all the attention. And we suspect it will continue to do so.
This weekend will see the first excursions of many a new Amflow owner. Will things ever be the same again? Yes, quite probably.
On with the Fresh Goods!
Fresh Goods Friday is Sponsored by Pedal Cover โ The better route for cyclists
Amflox PX Carbon Pro
- Price: ยฃ8,999
- From: Amflow Bikes

Yes, this bike again. Love it or hate it or meh it, there’s no denying that this bike/motor launch yesterday was the biggest thing to happen in mountain biking for a number of years. What about the bike? Pointless amounts of power, still an amazing bike to ride. Read our review if you’ve not already.
Amflow PR Carbon
- Price: starting from ยฃ3,999
- From: Amflow Bikes

As we’ve already briefly covered this yesterday’s story, let’s give a bit more info about the ยฃ3,999 model. The PR Amflows are basically the Amflows with removable 800Wh batteries. The ยฃ3,999 PR comes with the Avinox M2 motor. This is a bit less powerful than the M2S motor but still incredibly powerful: 1,100w peak power, 125Nm peak torque. In terms of spec it’s quite a bit lower end than the other models, as you’d expect. FOX AWL HD Sport fork, Fox Rhythm shock, SRAM S1000 drivetrain, Tektro TKD173 brakes, Amflow alloy wheelset and assorted own-brand finishing kit. So, all in all, still quite impressive for a ยฃ4K eMTB.
RockShox Lyrik Ultimate
- Price: ยฃ1,225.00
- From: SRAM

“Even though Iโve only been riding the new Lyrik for a couple of weeks or so, I can confidently come out and state that this is now the air-sprung trail fork to beat. The excellent Fox Float 36 has finally been replaced in my affections.” Read more in our review.
RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate
- Price: ยฃ680.00
- From: SRAM

“But even so, I can easily confirm that the new Super Deluxe is (still) the best (vaguely affordable) air shock out there.” – Read more in our review.
Nutrak Hi Fibre Sealant
- Price: ยฃ31.99 (1L)
- From: Freewheel

Perfect for those on a high fibre diet. Actually, don’t imbibe this stuff. It’ll seal up all your holes. Which is the last thing a high fibre diet requires. Features: additional extra puncture sealing fibres, Nutrak Tubeless Sealant Hi Fibre claims to last around six months and should not separate forming lumps, synthetic latex formula is CO2 friendly, contains no ammonia. We especially like the pull-out tube that fits straight over a tubeless valve.
Peaty’s x Fidlock Lockin’ Bottle + Mount
- Price: ยฃ44.99 (750ml)
- From: Peaty’s

A squat bottle that holds 750ml of liquid without being the length of a trad 750mm water bottle. Which means it’ll fit in frames that can only accommodate 600ml bottle lengths usually. Available in different designs; this is the ‘Crown/Smoke’ design. Features: flip-top dirt cap, high flow nozzle, soft BPA Free plastic is easier to squeeze, locking base included, dishwasher safe up to 50ยฐc. Love us a Fidlock we do.
Works Components 1.5ยฐ Angle Adjust Headset
- Price: ยฃ74.99
- From: Works Components

What’s the phrase? ‘Can’t leave well alone’. Yep, that’s the one. After testing out the new RockShox stuff on my beloved Orange Switch 6, I was feeling like the bike was sitting/riding a bit ‘steeper’ than it did when it had coil springs under it (Formula Selva C fork and RockShox Super Deluxe Coil shock). So, I’ve got a classic angle adjust headset in from the helpful crew over at Works Components. This is nominally a -1.5ยฐ flavour headset but sometimes you don’t quite get the full 1.5ยฐ on bikes with longer head tubes, so am expecting to slacken things by just over 1.0ยฐ. We shall see.
Singletrack Magazine Issue 166
- Price: ยฃ12.00
- From: The SIngletrack Shop

Singletrack World Padded Jacket
- Price: ยฃ98.33
- From: The Singletrack Shop

A seriously lightweight and totally snuggly padded jacket. This is premium gear and 100% recycled and sustainably produced. Tested by Singletrack staff and we wouldnโt put our logo on it if we didnโt love it.

Stale Goods Friday – 2014 BOS Dizzy fork
- Price: ยฃ999.00 (or ยฃ1,398.78 in today’s money)
- From: Fresh Goods Friday 219

A dirty dozen year ago we wrote: “This new XC 29er fork in 120mm flavour has lots of exciting tech to set your swonnicles revolving. Itโsย 1580g, it has a closed cartridge damper system which acts on both high and low speed damping curves, tip top seals on 32mm stanchions apparently mean long, long service intervals and a swish Thru-Axle ..erm.. axle. We canโt wait to get it ridden.”

Yeah, RIP Afrika Bambaataa.
That Nutrak/Oko/Halo Hi Fibre is really good. Don’t mix it with stans etc, it goes weird. But you can mix it with water, so you can keep topping it off forever and as long as it hasn’t completely dried up it refreshes it. And it seals punctures just as well as anything else I’ve ever used.ย Always like to see a Works, they really deserve the credit for really making angle headsets good, but Cane Creek got all the attention and then other companies just blatantly copied the Works.ย
Is it just me or does anyone else feel slight sad that there is more press coverage of a new engine than of a new range of suspension products?
One is a major advancement in fairly new technology, the other is a bit of a tweak to a range of long established bike components. The fact you aren’t interested in the former is pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things
That’s not meant to be a harsh reply to your comment, just my take on the hype
One is following the now-established path of hype, HYPE, H Y P E!!!! in the hopes of attracting major private equity funding that completely guts the company but leaves the founders free to retire in luxury. See also AI bollox, any “something as a service" company etc
The other is a well-established firm that’s built a reputation from doing things properly. Just a shame the industry’s falling for the former, but hey ho
Well, the other side of that being ‘sad’ is the child sex abuse allegations …

Allegations on the internet and a court case are an awful long way apart
Ah. That’s ok then. It’s probably all fine.
Who knows. Thatโs my whole point. Without any investigation, let alone a court case nobody has a clue of this is a smear or a true accusation. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty
That’s about how a legal system treats you in the run up and during your trial. That wiki link makes for grim reading.ย
Am I the only one to look at a water bottle for ยฃ44.99 and think flinkin blip thatโs expensive!!
but I do like the flip lid to cover the drinking โnippleโ.
anyone seen any cheaper water bottles with crud covers? Alpkit/ Sonder used to sell them but have stopped. I think itโs a great innovation (but over ยฃ10 for a water bottle seems like a lot to me!)
It’s a bottle with a cage, but yes. even still. Fidlock setups are usually 15 quid less
Camelbak Podium bottles come with a little cover.
I’ve got a couple of these Zefal bottles from Banana Industries for ยฃ5.99
