We’ve just unloaded the van after getting back from the 2011 Shimano Singletrack Classic Weekender. And what a weekend it was! Thanks to all who turned up to race, all the sponsors and the marshals and mountain rescue and catering and council and rangers and – eventually – the weather.
There’ll be a full report up soon, but here’s a quick taster of some of Saturday’s action…
Results should be up tonight on Mikrotime’s website.

Will make fire. His inner caveman was having a field day with that bonfire.
superb weekend again guys, thanks for all your efforts! super tough xc today but really fun… topped it all off nicely :o)
Flying the flag…
🙂
MisterP is right – me love fire :o)
Thanks for a ‘classic’ weekend (forgive the pun) it was ace :o)
Went along to promote SingletrAction and ended up being a marshall! Top day today, well done to those that organised it and big up to everyone who hauled themselves round the quarry 🙂
Awesome weekend, also wanted to say how nice everyone was, chatting to people on the stands and the Singletrack guys have done a sterling job keeping everything running smoothly!
Yep, fantastic weekend – probably the best STWeekender so far – seemed to recapture more of the fun and relaxed nature of the first one without getting rid of the better courses, bigger sponsor and bigger numbers. Great effort.
Was good to meet you Mugboo
So gutted I couldn’t make it this year. It’s the only event I really want to go to anymore! Looking forward to next year.

brilliant weekend and happy with my overall result! cant wait for next year!
another great weekend overall! nice to see old friends, and meet new ones too. after seeing the XC course though, i’m really glad i decided to go back to marshalling rather than enter this year; i’d have struggled to do one lap of that in an hour! all those that entered have my utmost respect. i think it’s time i tried to push my fitness a bit further…
Good to meet you Mr Vorex. Having raced and marshalled / gofored this event I reckon that marshalling / goforing is harder.
lol @ Will the firestarter :o) Cracking fire, think I kept enough residual heat inside me to keep me warm through the night.
Awesome weekend, thanks to the guys from Madison for the hospitality in including Jake for his help with our erection….of the tent lol
Awesome time at the STWeekender, will DEFINITELY be back next year! Thanks to all those who helped organise etc, and the rangers for lugging about the sheer amount of stuff we had between 2 of us!! Bike is clean, greased and ready for the next ride tonight 😛
Had a good weekend ! ;0)…………2 or 3 laps? you decide…..
A few more pictures from the Saturday.

I managed to capture about 100 different people throughout the day but it will take me a couple of days to get them all uploaded.
Thanks for the great riding over the weekend, still kicking myself for falling off a log on the trials…. Will focus more next time! Seemed like an ever more varied mix of riders this year than previously which is great. I hope the dude that slammed into the rock is ok, sounded really nasty. Loved the cross country course, especially that flat out downhill section from the grass, what speed, what danger! Already looking forward to next year.
great photos digitalmindseye – looking forward to the rest.

Once again a Classic Weekender. Well done to everyone involved with organising and running the event.
Thanks also to Simon M, Baldysquirt etc for their hospitality.
Looking forward to next year!
Check out baldysquirt looking like he means business in the photo.
Dave “the dude that slammed into the rock” is doing fine. I brought his car back to Sheff for him and he picked it up earlier tonight. The bones in his wrist were all jumbled up and they’ve had a good poke and a tug around (under general anaesthetic) and got them back roughly where they should be.
Nasty gash possibly from a brake lever entering his chest too.
Brilliant – Managed to get poke, tug, gash and enterered into one post.
Tell Dave that if he ever “doesn’t want” Jasper I might be interested. Don’t know the bloke but am gald to hear he’s OK.
Jasper was good company (and more animated than some spectators 😉 whilst marshalling.
many thanks to all that helped Dave out and minded that bloody, erm lovely dog for me 😉
do I look like i’m wearing marigolds in that pic ? rider #111 ?
Great weekend despite being woefully unfit. I agree with the comment about the fast downhill section. It was a great opportunity to hare past those that hared past me on the uphills 🙂
great weekend, well organised, loved every minute!!! apart from the weather on friday night and sat morning 🙁 ive put my downhill run on youtube.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyjNRSRj-QI
A quality weekend, enjoyed being there despite not being able to ride this year. Managed to get photos of nearly all riders, over 700 of which are now online and searchable by rider number, here: http://duncanwiggins.zenfolio.com/singletrackweekender2011
Great great weekend, brilliantly organised and much enjoyed. Many thanks!!
I’ve done my own race report… read it here:
