Troy popped into the CRC HQ last week to have a look around and to shoot the breeze with the big dogs at CRC. During his visit he was given a guided tour around the entire building and introduced to each department where he got the opportunity to see firsthand just what we get up to on a day to day basis. The D2 has been around for almost a decade and throughout that time little has changed about this iconic helmet. It was only within the last couple of years that Troy decided DH racing was getting way more risky due to the higher speeds and nature of today’s DH tracks that a little more protection would be a good idea. Some racers were already wearing TLD moto-x helmets for greater protection, the only drawback to this was the weight penalty that comes with a full on moto-x lid.


The solution, combine the best of both worlds offering a higher level of protection with a minimal increase in weight for the gravity fans. This concept gave birth to the new TLD D3 which was first seen at the Schladming DH World Cup last year when Sam Hill and Steve Peat donned the new helmet for the first time.
