  • What grips/lock-ons for large hands?

Hi guys. I’ve got Outland Enduro 12 lock-ons on my mtb at the moment but I find them too thin and uncomfortable after an hour riding. What grips/lock-ons (preferably lock-ons) do You use that may be thicker than my Enduro 12s?

    Thanks

Lizard Skin Peatys are nice and chunky… (at least they feel it in my little girly hands)

Would thin grips contribute to hand numbness?

The grips on my full susser are wafer thin and my hands go number after a short time.

I’ve got the big earls on my other bike and I never have any problems.

Boardin Bob, I think that’s more likely to be your riding position. I find fatter grips and even padded gloves make no difference to numbness.

Not numbness, but ‘cramping up’. I found fat grips helped no end

The thin size and aggressive texture enhances your fee

That’s from Bonty Big Earl grips description. I’ll probably have to pop in to a lbs to try few and then decide.

I know my friend had some Odi grips seemed really comfy. Probably will give those a try as well.

    Thanks all for Your advice.

Lizard Skins Northshore are on their way. Will see if there’s any improvement over the Outland Enduro.

    How big are your hands?
I have exactly the opposite problem, even ruffians are too thick uptil they are almost totally worn away and I use size 10 (Large) gloves. fat grips cause arm pump and are worse for bike control.

Oury Lock-Ons are best IMO. Very thick and lovely and soft and tacky (tacky as in grippy).

    Descent Gear have them.

The Sunline ones in white are nice or ODI rogues for size xxl in specialised gloves. Even then hands went a bit numb after 16hrs on the Mayhem.

A mate is currently swearing by the Ergon numbers, but not with Specialised gloves. will be trailling that combi myself in a bit and report back.

    Sunnline thicks.

I just can’t ride small grips on swept bars…

ODI Intense Lock Ons rock my world.

And, what is more, they have a flange. Yes, really, a flange!

That’s odd! Like you I’m a “large” in glove size, but mainly cos my fingers are quite long not cos my hands are that fat, but I run ODI Rogues and wish I could find even fatter grips! Anything thinner than a Rogue for DH and my arms will pump up in seconds. A Ruffian? Forget it! It would be sheer hell for me, my arms would be in so much pain!
