Just looking for advice/tips on retorqueing the main pivot on a 2010 Trek EX.

I don’t have the right sized allen key (or open ended spanner) for the pivot bolt fittings 😕 So, it looks like a quick trip down the LBS. What I’d like to know is whether I’ll need to pop the crankset off first? Or whether a combination of allen key/torque wrench in bolt and spanner on nut on non-drive side will do it?

er…Hope this makes sense to someone! 😀

    TIA

I would take the chainset off if only because it will make the chance of damaging your knuckles reduce 😀

Seriously, as the chainset is an XT I think, they are so easy to remove and replace I’d spend the five minutes it takes to do it.

I have had experience of torquing up the top pivot bolts on an EX9 and I would suggest extreme care to ensure the allen key is straight and fully engaged before adding any pressure- they can round off really easily!
