Glorious hand off by Jiffy Junior in Sexton earlier.

Not looking good for Samson Lee.

Or for Ireland, I have to say.

    Ref spoiling the game.

No, cheating back rows spoiling the game. I haven’t disagreed with many of Barnes decisions. Warburton warned just before the yellow. He was the tackler and didn’t release.

Every play ends in a pen to whoever has the ball. Dull stuff.

Don’t disagree, but that’s how the teams are playing – one out and charge it up.

Not a great game so far, however you look at it.

I do love a drop goal from open play, though.

And now no Melon in the second half.

    Hmmmm. Pessimistic.

Superb defending! Best part of 40 phases!

Ireland should have gone for the posts, I reckon.

Cracking game. No complaints here. Massive win for Wales and well played to them. Thought Barnes managed the game well enough and it was a bit painful to watch Ireland throw away a few chances. Oh well, championship goes to the last day. 🙂

EDIT: I do wish Barnes would shut up though. Is he the chattiest ref?

Agreed in full, DD. Second half was so intense.

Barnes is still a male chicken.

Well, look back to the start of the championship, we pretty much all said “Wide open championship, no GS this year”.

FFS BBC, stop showing Ireland’s 13 man missed overlap 😆

Not sure about the penalty try either. Looked like Ireland flopped over…was it given for pulling it down?

Worst part of the game was definitely Barnes.

Amazing defense from Wales and a well worked try backed up by one of the best place kickers in the game. Not a great performance in the sense of worrying other teams watching but great to somehow pull out the win under immense pressure. From an Irish point of view, worryingly, Sexton had a hand in almost everything that went wrong. Not a great performance from him which made it tough for them. Very surprised they didn’t kick their points though. International rugby is all about taking the points when they are on offer!

Yep, was given for pulling down.

I certainly wasn’t sure about it, either.

Just finished watching. Flippin eck. That was the longest four hours of my sport watching life.

I’ve no idea what half those crucial penalties/scrums were for tbh.

Madigan and Reddan’s entrance re-vitalised Ireland after a poor enough performance from Sexton and Murray. Although it’s hard to evaluate the effect as it was all Wales defending against waves of green at that stage anyway. Sexton was pretty poor though and I’m surprised Joe didn’t put Madigan on earlier in the game. S&M had a bad day at the office and Wales’ work at the breakdown and line-out gave Ireland a taste of their own medicine. Slightly concerned that plan B wasn’t working with a more-or-less first choice back-line. Oh well, it was a great game and could have gone either way in the last ten. Wales will be looking for a try frenzy against Itsly then. It would be a great recovery from their first game if they took it on the last day.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone in that. Barnes didn’t know either.

The only time I liked Barnes was for the decisions in Wales’s favour at the end. Goodness knows how his decision making process works though!

The pen try, about 4 Welsh players dived under the maul as it reached the line. Lucky to avoid yellow.
