Just a warning, I bought a couple of bits from the Strava Shop the day it launched. I received the goods quickly, but today received a Duty request for unpaid VAT and advancement fee totalling £28.14!

Why are you surprised about this!

If buying from outside the EU you get charged duty / VAT in the value is over £15 HMRC guide.

I’m surprised because I hadn’t read the rules, just sharing for others who aren’t clued up.

I’ve always got away with it before, so I’ve no idea how they determine how and when to apply the rules properly.

My reading of the guidance is that VAT is payable on items over £15, Duty is payable on items over £135 (unless the amount is below £9)
