I need to get one for mother-in-law as a light to see by not to look pretty, are any of them any good, had a look around and very dubious that most of them are eco-tat and not worth it. Cheap LED's look bright but have no penetration. That's why we pay the big bucks right?

    Any tips/experience greatly appreciated.

I live in a building converted to 4 flats and one of the other residents put one up by the side of the house so you could see the two lots of steps. Rarely worked on summer nights, and since its been autumn or winter its been as much use as a chocolate teapot!

i've got a solar powered PIR light out the front of my house, and it works well enough to see the front door and find yer keys etc, which is just what I wanted it for. 2-3 of them would light a path I recon

    looks exactly like this
