I have a bike to collect in Horsham for my daughter, as I'm down that way (from Reading area) I thought I may as else chuck my bike in the car and go for a little blast.
Where's best? I know of Peaslake, as I've been there once and can probably find my way to BKB & Yogurt pots but is there anywhere else worth going?
probably only got 2-3hrs to play with as I have the first of many Christmas dinners in the afternoon 
Peaslake is the big trail round here it seems but only 20 mins from south downs if the traffic's ok or if you want something leisurely there's the downs link.
Just sorting out joining the local club so not been on any others round here. Could always ask in Freeborn or ADC if that's where you're picking up the bike from but the Freeborn folks normally go to Peaslake on a Sunday morning.
The nearest good riding to there would be St Leonard’s Forest but perhaps not if you aren’t up for a bit of mud.
Better ground conditions and more obvious trails are usually found in the Surrey Hills…specifically Peaslake as you say.
As above St Leonards is in Horsham has some good riding, but only enough for a couple of hours, and you would probably need a local to show it to you. Tilgate in Crawley is just down the road and there's a bit more there. Not been to St Leonards recently it can be muddy, but Tilgate is very ridable at the moment. If you've only got 2-3 hrs either would make a good choice especially if you can tie up with a local. When are you going?
