I came across this picture from the summer of 1990 the other day.

It was taken at the Sheffield round of the NEMBA series. The course was regarded as being highly technical and there were a number of pro/elite riders who were reputed to have complained that the course was too difficult.
I think I came around 14th in the junior category. The bike is a Saracen Traverse although by that time the wheels had been changed to Mavic MA40s on Mavic hubs; the bars were Salsa Tue Temper staight steel, cut down to incey weeny sub 20". The tyres are also a bit of a joke these days - 1.5" Spesh Hardpacks!
