  • Rear canti hanger too low?

I’ve just came to fit a pair of Shimano’s new cx70 cyclocross brakes to my bike, and found that the rear cable hanger is too low to allow the use of them. The original brakes were CR720’s, which have a very wide profile, the new brakes are much less so, resulting in a higher straddle cable.

Short of getting a seat-clamp mount (itself difficult as I have a front facing slot (shhhh!)) and cutting the existing hanger so it doesn`t foul, do I have any other options? I’ve already tried a shorter straddle cable, but it’s still too close. I’ve not taken any pictures to show the problem more clearly, & not brought the bike home with me, but I can get some tomorrow if it’ll help.

it’s a shame as the brakes look fantastic otherwise, and they move the shoes further from the frame, so I can remove the wheels without deflating the tyres.
