I used to use a Flite, but these days my bum seems to fit a WTB Rocket V,light and hardwearing.

SDG Bel Air FX I-Beam saddles are on three of my bikes. In twenty plus years of riding they're the most comfortable saddles I've ever used.

Can't go far wrong with a fizik gobi, SDG Bel air's suited my glutes and are that popular they can't be bad. Failing all else get a Brookes and never look back. Unless you want to see how good it looks on your downhill rig

brooks b17 – bought one did 600k on it , it became soft and supple and most of all comfy ….like a knacker hammock ! its done about 3000kms now – looks like new!

Just bought another for a second bike …. not looking forward to the first 600k bed in period :S

I had a Charge Spoon and it was the best value for money saddle that was comfy enough for longer road rides and equally good off road. I preferred my Fizik Pave for road duties as it was a bit firmer. Now have Ti Bel Airs on both bikes and they do the job as good as the Spoon and look a bit nicer 🙂

Spoons are good for the money.

Specialized Alias and Toupe are currently my faves though.

Specialised Alias used here…works for me (and is cheaper than another ultrasound!!) They measure your sit bones by sitting on a Gel pad at Specialized dealer – saddle width to suit. I have worn two out and they have taken away the stitching on the top (that wears off) so hopefully next one will last longer than a couple of yrs 🙂

cheers for the feedback people …the sdg bel air was comfty but in a few months the seems at the sides were bursting , things don't seem to last anymore !

tegski – the newer Alias has a one piece cover with no stitching.

My rocket V is still going strong after 5 years or so. Got another 2 in the shed for when it finally dies over the winter (leather wearing through on side).
Im quite tall and 17st so they can take a beating!

Cheers druidh!. Looking forward to trying a new one out as saddle started to come apart as stitching wore off (funnily?!) I can't complain though as I got over 4000km off road from each saddle – very happy.

SDG Bel Air I Beams on both my bikes….for what it's worth. Seeing as you don't get on with SDG,or Fizik saddles.

Get to a specialized dealer and get them to measure your sit bone width with the 'memory'-foam pad thing they have. Even if you don't fancy buying a specialized, you'll have an idea of how well different saddles fit you?

Bontrager do different widths & a return policy if your not comfy – I'm going to try an Inform RL next.

Got mine and was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever sat on. And it's heavy. About 200 miles later, and either it's properly broken in or my ar5e has broken to the shape of the saddle and it became brilliant. A few more hundred miles and I love it. It looks great, is comfy and I don't notice the weight. It just needs a bit of looking after is all.

    That's a good name for a decent saddle. 😉
