Yes, talk to Andy at www.tramuntanatours.com . He rented me a brand new Remedy for not much last year.

If he cant guide you, he'll mark out routes on a map and talk you through them. He's done uplifts for me too. Private land is a big issue on the island, but the riding is as good a southern spain, and you probably wont see another mtb.

The Bunyola descent is in my Top 10, well worth the fireroad climb. Make sure you to the Gorge one as well.

Thanks agentdagnamit, sounds great with Traumuntanatours being located in Port Soller where we plan to stay. The only piece left to sort out is to a place to rent with a heated pool nearby, to put the kids in when I´m out biking....

I'll second Tramuntana Tours - really helpful, very well situated and living the dream 🙂

I'll third tramantuna tours - but watch their seat posts (v long!). The Barranc de Biniaraix descent is great, but hard work on the arms. An easy and fun family trip is Balitx valley. You can ride along the entire tramantuna range, staying in pensions - never done it, but would love too! Getting an uplift to the top of the american road is worthwhile as it is unrelenting.

If you go the other side of the island, try roxy-bike in cala millor - this side is not as mountainous, but routes are great and v technical partic around son servera. If you are staying in Soller this is a bit of trek though (1.5h, but beaches too and if you're there for 1m then worth exploring the east as kids will love it!) These guys also rent bikes, some lovely trail riding near Arta.

I agree the best trail guide is www.rockandride-mallorca.com their booklet (photocopy special) is well worth it, Tramantunatours sell it - a gps is helpful as trail marking is not great and rights of way variable.

Mallorca is a great mtb destination, not just for roadies, just watch the rain as the rock gets like ice so bring pads!

Thanks dickeyhepburn, good point to expand the views since we will have plenty of days. Perhaps easter side has more flowy trails.

This was about 8 years ago - having come past the Cuber reservoir, heading towards the col that leads to the Barranc de Biniaraix descent. It's a classic route!

Looking for a Villa with Garden to rent for April in Soller or Port de Soller. Any tips?

Recommend riding out from Porto Soller on the old Soller road head up past the abandoned hotel on the gr 221 direction deia and then turn right on the track to the light house. V rocky and techy linear there and back route. There will be walkers but it is a great shortish route.

Alternatively just stay on the gr 221 to deia and have lovely fresh fish lunch at beach side cafe. That too is v rocky techy in places.

Biking in Mallorca[/url]

Heading to Port de Pollenca in Sept and would be interested to know if there are 2-4 hour XC rides worth doing on the door step or anyone locally to guide/ help with transporting the bike to somewhere with better riding.

I'd been told that privately owned land created issues exploring by yourself so never bothered to take the bike in the past although now I'm curious 😀

What tyres do people tend to run around Majorca on an XC race type bike? Looks mainly rocky so most tyres look like they should be fine unless super flimsy- is that a fair comment? I use Racing Ralphs if there is ever dryish weather here in South Wales (equally rocky) or Mud-X when it is very wet. Any reason to not use these in Majorca?

Had a trip up into the Mountains a few years back(pre mtb), it's a beautiful place with or without a bike.I'm heading back in July with kids, I'll watch this thread with interest.

It does indeed look beautiful and the pictures have gotten me thinking that it could be a nice place for a day or two of walks even if I ended up travelling without the bike

As for tyres I use single ply highrollers all year round so racing ralphs will be fine,but I would highly recomend you go tubeless if you've not already as pinch flats are a big problem here!
