I have a TZ7 and when I try to move video files across onto my laptop, they just become jpegs. (card in card reader, copy/pastey in windows explorer)

Have tried just changing the file type, but haven't been able to in windows7 – I just end up with movie.avi.jpeg 🙄

So how do I transfer movies of the camera and keep the right file format? Or how can I change the file type in Win7 (and what file format should my camera file be?)

    Thanks for any help!

I have no problem with videos, but I have the software installed and transfer by cable (TZ65) Vista

The software that comes with the cam sorts it, as does Picasa.

is Photofunstudio the one? Just tried and all it sees is the jpeg, but this is still off the card in the reader – must I have the camera physically connected to get the movies to work??

That would be a bit of a drag 😕

Movies should leave you with a movie file and also a jpeg thumbnail with the same file name e.g.

    P10123.jpg
    P10123.mov

Are you definitely picking up both files when you copy/paste?

I use Windows Live Photo Gallery (free download) on W7 and haven't had any problems importing with my Lumix.
