Big shopping centre for a trawl round.
Visit the cathedrals.
Visit the Albert Dock.
Get a ferry across the Mersey.
Take a look at the bombed out church.
Have a drink in the cavern club.
Vist the Giant (bikes) concept store.
Visit the Williamsons tunnels.

yes what they said it is cracking day out. Albert docks have museums , art galleries, pubs/restaurants. there is a huge shopping emporium opposite there Liverpool 1??? ferry - much better view of the docks from the Wirral side IMHO.

Mersey ferry from Birkenhead or free parking at seacombe, end of the m53,
The new liverpool museum opposite the mersey ferry landing stage, albert dock next to it, and liverpool 1, across the road, then bold street, evans cycles, and the Giant concept store just past albert dock,not the tiny one opposite albert dock, a trip up the st johns tower the huge chimney with a donut at the top, with a built in real radio station,trip through the old mersey tunnel to Birkenhead, art deco entrances,anthony gormleys place, at crosby beach,and lots more.

Ferry is waste of time.
Do visit the Anglican Cathedral, the docks, the Willianson art gallary and the Tat. Such a lovely city.So many decent pubs and places for a night out. A very freindly place.

a lot of liverpool is free entry, and so much to see, also visit the catholic cathederal a huge concrete wigwam, just opposite the anglican one.
Theres also the yellow dukw, an amphibious road going vehicle from the last war, that goes in the water at Albert dock, and on into the city centre as a guided tour.

I've been spending lots of time there recently with work, and think its a great place. Went to see Another Place last weekend and was blown away.
The skipper on one of our vessels was telling me Liverpool docks is the second busiest in Europe which seems hard to believe until you realise just how much is going on in there.
The place looked stunning last week.

Ferry is waste of time.
Why is it a waste of time? It is exactly what it says on the cover, it's a ferry from Liverpool to Birkenhead, were you disappointed because the cinema/pool/duty free shops were closed?
It's a short boat ride that gives you a different view of the city and the area, it's not going to rock your world, but then it doesn't claim to.
It's a great little city and there is plenty to do as others have said, Albert Dock, Cathedrals, the area around Wood St/Fleet St has lots of food places.Posted 3 months ago # -
Mrs Gti has to go to Liverpool 2-3 times a month on business and each time she comes back with another funny story. Last time, she was at the toll booth for one of the Mersey tunnels paying the young girl on duty. There was a mahoosive cruise liner moored close by, towering over the area.
"That's a big ship isn't it!" observes Mrs Gti.
The girl looks over her shoulder and sees the ship for the first time (Liverpool accent here) "Jesus Christ! I didn't realise the fookin' water was so close!"
On another occasion she was in a store and saw the assistant locking some goods away in a cabinet. The assistant saw her looking surprised and told her: "This is a terrible area, we get a lotta holdups!"
Mrs Gti: "Oh I know, the traffic down this road is awful, I've been stuck for ages!"
Assistant, in slightly patronising voice: "Not THAT kinda hold-up!"

Port Sunlight and the Leverhulme art gallery are great if you like that kind of thing, as is the Walker gallery in town.
Ignore the children making comments above - no better or worse than any other big city, and I'm a Mancunian

Alehouses - Baltic fleet is a very old and striking place, on Wapping up from the Albert dock. Ship and Mitre on Dale St is the best known real ale boozer in town, although there are others. Could put together an epic pub crawl from the fleet to the mitre thinking about it. The Philarmonic is another must visit pub - very atmospheric, sonorous place.
THe Williamson tunnels are sort of worth visiting as they are an amazing feature of the town - Man builds extensive, major engineering project under the city for no apparent reason. There wasn't a huge amount open at the visitor's centre when I went though and the guide spun out 15 mins of material into about an hour which was annoying. There may be more open now though.

2nd friday of ever month there is a critical mass cycle ride from the chineese arch at 18.00 hrs.

Just got back, had a great time, ate in Pan Am at albert dock, was lovely, chuffing cold on the water, so much more chilled atmosphere than Brum or London, excellent service from London Midland and only £15 return, all in all a great day out
