It is extraordinary that some consultancy firm probably got paid for this. I guess its goes in the Olympic emblem/mascot file. Its like the project was given to an infant school.

I seem to remember a similar outcry when they modernised the BBC News site.

I don't miss it no, but that was designed for vastly different browsers/screen resolutions/technologies.
But I do think the new homepage is a step backwards.
Some of the content pages are looking really nice though.

I really liked the old one as it was very diverse.
The new one is clearly designed with the ipad user as it's target audience
