The poor buggers well old and all his mates have popped their clogs. He just sort of rests against the glass like he can’t be arsed.
He doesn’t even suck my finger anymore .

For goodness sake don’t put beer in the bowl…

Just take him along to the aquarium, see what floats his boat?

How about a new castle? Or ship wreck?

to be honest.. young healthy fish in with an ailing old leviathon may not be the best idea..
In my experience young goldfish can be very disrespectful to their infirm elders.. often looking upon them very much as ‘slow moving lunch’

they can live well over 20 years in the right environment though.. have you got a local pond he could retire to..?

“I remember when all this were just fields. oh wait, no I don’t, we’re famous for our short memories even before we go senile. I wonder if it was ever fields? Doesn’t look like it, probably just been in this room all my life. Ah well….

I had one of those very round fish once, the normal fish ate all its fins within two minutes.

Now tell us the truth…who ate all it’s fins?

Judging by the look of the fish above, I think you’d get away with lobbing a satsuma in the water.

He’ll have a bugger of a time trying to light it,
Just cob him in a bong……….

some frozen bloodworms, they come in packs of frozen cubes and you drop a cube in the water to defrost, my fish used to go mental for them

Flush him down the toilet and put him out of his misery – let him go with his dignity intact.

It doesn’t matter what you do, he’ll have forgotten it two seconds later. 😉

Does he rest on the bottom? I am wondering if he has a swim bladder problem.

If he has to go, flushing is quite a lengthy and unpleasant death… especially for a cold water fish.

Hitting with a hammer is a quicker and less painful job (if rather confusing for a moment). Or cutting behind the head with some sharp scissors.

I used to dispose of very sick fish in a bowl of gin, but that became a bit expensive. 😮

If you’re going to put the fish down, do it the proper way, with clove oil rather than flushing, freezing or hitting with a hammer
