I have some frames and other bits that I'm going to sell and having never sold on the classifieds I'm not sure of the payment process.
I understand the different ways, i.e. bank transfer, paypal etc, but when excepting paypal as a gift, who pays the extra charge? I assume it's the buyer. Is this correct? Or is paypal gift the right way?

paypal gift buyer pays charge (although there isn't one if they use a debit card or paypal balance, I think).
As wwaswas says - no charge for either the buyer or seller via PayPal Gift UNLESS the buyer uses a credit card - the PayPal balance or link to bank account routes are free.

Think you have to pay to move it from paypal to bank. Not sure, as i've usually just let it sit there and spent it on the next thing i want 
no it's free to move it to your bank account if your willing to wait 4-5 days. there is a charge for the 2-3 day transfer tho.

eh? i just got charged for a pypal gift transfer, with a paypal account linked to my bank account. i don't have a paypal balance at the mo, i think this is the difference...
otherwise, how can i claim back the charges?!

This is the key thing - a gift gives no protection. There's no charges if you've got a balance (credit) in your account. It all relies on the trust of the forum members to work...
I only accept bank transfer or cheque - most folk have been happy with that.
Paypal protection is much better than it used to be, worth paying if its a high value item your buying.

PP gift offers the buyer no protection so long as you're not a scam artist then it'll be fine if the buyer accepts your word for being a scammer!

Bernaard, the frames are a Giant XTC - 16" and a Genesis Altitude 853 - 17.5". Email me if you want as I don't want to use this thread to discuss or sell anything. Email in profile.
I never use gift, if the seller wants gift I will just use a normal payment but calculate the charges and add this on, plus a bit to cover the charge on money you are sending to cover the charge.
P.S On posting this I just did a quick google, and found a Paypal reverse charge calculator.

Charges on a £100 payment are £3.60, but if you add this fee to your payment, you need to send £3.73 for the seller to receive £100. Its only 13 pence, but many seem to think it should be a free service and are not prepared to pay for money to miraculously appear in their account without waiting for cheques or bank payments to clear.
