Following on from the other recent musical threads, what was the first gig you went to?

Mine was Toyah at Margate Winter Gardens 1982(ish)

Oasis at knebworth park, august 1996 – ticket was a 16th birthday present from my parents.

Got into pit 1 right at the front, on the front rail in fact, managed to get a picture of my ugly mug into the sunday times the next day, still got the paper in a box in my mums loft.

First live music of any type I saw (apart from bands at my local pub) was V98 (I think) when Prodigy headlined. Flamin great day that was!!! Slept nearly an hour at Euston on the way home after missing the last train. After that was Rolling Stones at Twickenham…… Gods they are I tell ye!

The Verve, front 5 rows of the homecoming gig in Haigh Country Park – 33K people (park estimated 40K in reality as the organisers opened the gates in the end without asking for tickets) in a field for one band. Beck as the supporting IIRC. Nothing has compared since 🙁

    The DJ’s were **** aweful.

I worked at the park and had to litter-pick the next day lol.

The Police in Leeds about 1985ish.

With the Belle Stars as support. Now that was a truly awful band. Their drummer couldn’t even throw her own drumsticks into the audience, she had to get a roadie behind to launch a few pairs….

The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Trentham Gardens 1976. Not my favourite band at the time, but a real rite of passage. I was so surprised that my fairly strict parents allowed me to go.
