Hiya,

can anyone recommend any camera repairer's or anyone who can diagnose a fault?

Work have got a Nikon D40 & it makes a rattly sound when shaken & when taking photo's all it saves are images that look like the northern lights with a purple hue...

we use no one else although Nikon would do a service if you sent it to them. Hold the mirror up against the bottom of the prism and see what the shutter curtain is doing. if it looks ok shoot something long like a second or two and look at the sensor while the lens is off.
It is possible for the repair to cost more than the camera. So sit down when the quote comes in.
