The irony from some on this thread is hilarious. Keep it up, chaps - always makes for a good chuckle.
As you were...

What makes me feel even warmer, is knowing that folk like yourself pay so much attention to it.
Thanks for reading. Without you all this would not have bin possible.
Sorry elf, not that much attention. You'll be forgotten after about 5 seconds from logging off. Insignificant as you are.
Might remember you tomorrow night, as the Mrs will be at work & there'll be nowt on telly.

I won't be though. And you know it.
I have no idea who or what you are though.

I am not getting trying to make any racial issue with this and my comments are aimed at (some) of the EU migrants. And the ones I meet round here ain't too keen on you "brayn" folk and would overwhelm social services if reported judging by some of the child rearing I have witnessed
I have no figures to hand so spare me please TJ but even the UK government struggles to get a proper handle on the econmics of the recent migration from the(not so) newly EU countries. It is v.complicated.
Take TJ's point about having to work here for a year, though even this has lapsed now for some I reckon. But even if it still does you can come to the UK for a year work a minimum wage job topped up with some in work benefits-job ends then you can claim more or less for ever including your family ,as appears to be by my unscientifc anecdotal evidence. Is that sustainable?
I take your point Elf about us all getting f88ked over by the rich getting away without paying their fair share and Triden,Iraq Afghanistan etc t etc etc but it's still us PAYE folk who are footing an ever increasing benefits bill.Posted 4 months ago # -
I glaze over Elf's posts for the most part simply because they're far too lengthy* for me to be bothered reading in their entirety. I noticed the usual arrogant twaddle in a quote and not from the original which says a lot about what he believes and what happens in reality.
*I learnt early that this is a trait - to bombard with so many words so as to 'win' through the inevitable boredom of the 'opponent'. Laughable immaturity from someone that claims to be so smart.

Cor Elf, is that you in that pic? You is seriously FIT! With that contemptuous gaze and old school look going on, lurvley!

Yeah, there are a very small minority who are a bit nazi, but the vast majority of East Yerpeans I've met have bin sound. Like the crowd on a Number Twenty Five bus one night, coming home from a night out in Forest Gate, and they're all on there bottles of vodka, plastic cups. Giving out drinks to everyone on the bus. Time I got to Stepney I was mullered. And they were just getting warmed up!
As for the child-rearing, I jolly well have not seen any significantly bad examples, nowhere near on a par with some of the 'non-immigrant' population, I must say.
You is seriously FIT!
Don' even fink abaht it yeah, cos you is well butters like Ize even gonna look at you. Cha.
Laughable immaturity from someone that claims to be so smart.
I have never, ever, claimed to be 'smart'.
I have admitted my own idiocy on several occasions on here though.
And I'm proper immature. My mum gave me a clip round the earhole when we were out the other day.
Tbh I did deserve it though.

Crazy isn't it?
We live on a small island where the only constant over the past 2000 years has been invasion and collonisation.
Change is what makes us what we are.
It defines us.Personally, going back a couple of generations I'm Irish, Spanish, French and Flemish.
If I get a choice, I think I'd prefer to be deported to Cork.

Care to elaborate?
Not a little englander myself by any stretch of the imagination but not sure I agree with your statement. Wasn't 1066 last time England was invaded sucessfully not forgetting the Scots doomed forays southwards and the ever changing nationality of our monarchs?Posted 4 months ago # -
I have Indian friends who hate Pakistani People.
I ask why and they list the things they hate about their race.
So they are racist without know them but based on characteristics on their race.
I know some of my white friends who hate blacks for being black = racist.
I know a Muslim guy who looks down on blacks = racist.
Personally I couldn't give a 5hit as we're all human = human race.
Racist = Idiot.

I wish I could say the same Elf!
I am not racist. I see only one race of humans.
People judge who you hang out with I guess. These are mainly colleagues rather than close friends except 1 or 2 from school days.
Some of them base it on experience/ignorance/values.The closest friends I have are good people who care about everyone and not racist and these I tend to call my close friends.
I move around the U.K. alot and try to surround myself with positive people.
The world is strange place that needs more racial tolerance.

We've assimilated more cultures, races and creeds into our idea of a shared national identity than any other country.
It's what we do.
To claim that nothing has changed in the way we define ourselves since the Norman Conquest is a little disengenous to say the least.

I can't spell very well, so I might be wrong. But you don't spell 'I'm acting like a tit' like that.

I was a **** terrorist, IRA scum etc. Which of course must have been the truth, spoken by the educated working men of Stoke - despite my mate being blown up into an unrecognizable pile, and my dad's business being bombed 6 times, death threats etc. But those solid English chaps must have been right because I had a funny accent so I must be just like all of the PIRA and I was in their city, shagging their women, stealing their work.....
They weren't racist*, they were thick as shit.
*they were really
You were shagging women from Stoke?
Deviant bugger.

Fail. Google William of Orange, that was our last invasion.

To actually talk about what the original post said, I don't think this is an issue of race. It is basically an issue that with externally contracted workers, the workers are only as good as the quality control employed both by the agency finding them, and the employer employing them.
When the agency doesn't really do any due diligence as to quality, and the employer assumes that they have done, then you end up with a load of useless idiots without the right skills.
I've seen this happen a couple of times at different places I've worked - one time was because the boss decided to outsource a bunch of programming work to India, without checking that the people they were employing had any programming knowledge (they didn't). The other time was when the boss employed some people from Kent (I think, might have been Surrey), without really checking in any meaningful way that they had any programming knowledge (they didn't).
A big problem with outsourcing to foreign countries in particular, is the very same race based assumptions as the this first post, but the other way round, ie. that people basically assume that because they have heard of some good work being done by people from x, all people from x are good workers. For example, there is some great work being done by Indian software developers. Unfortunately, most of the good developers are employed by Microsoft, Google or whichever big company out there, meaning that the cut-price software development shops don't exactly have the pick of the bunch.
Oh, and the other big problem we had with software outsourcing, is the whole hourly rate thing - super low hourly rate, but a level of productivity well under 1% of the normal workers who weren't on an hourly rate - these people would come back after a supposed week of work, having written a lot of code, but without compiling any of it, so none of it remotely worked, or even was worth writing, so basically was a complete waste of time. There's no incentive to do work quickly or well if you're on an hourly rate - in fact there is every incentive to generate more hours doing stuff slowly, and more hours fixing your bad code. Particularly if, like many outsourcing shops, you basically assume you can rip off each client only once before they realise you can't do the work.

Apart from William of Orange (mentioned by Sandwich), there have been many major waves of immigration since 1066 - apart from last century's arrivals from what were British colonies there were also the Hugenots, Jews, Gypsies, etc.

You do hourly rate? We outsource components, much easier to control. Still, the quality issues etc. that you talk about are spot-on.

I worked with an Indian coder - he would tell off-colour jokes about Pakistanis. When he was pulled up on it, he explained that it was a bit "like how English people tell jokes about the Irish and the Scottish". He didn't 'hate' them at all, it was just making fun of national stereotypes. He still got told off though.
He also use to eat entire swiss rolls straight out of the packet, like a chocolate bar. Strange lad.

Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?

Fail. Google William of Orange, that was our last invasion.
Never did history at school and clearly haven't mastered the use of Goggle yet
I always thought that William was invited here by parliament so Mary could take over from her unpopular dad at the top. Apparently James had burned some cakes or something and and pissed everyone off by becoming a Catholic and asking people to be tolerant and was popular in Scotland and France which never goes down well with the English!.He must have been a mean parent cos even his son tried to oust him too(so google tells me). Anyway we eventually got the Germans in at the top for some of their legendary Teutonic efficiency -is that racist?
