Im trying to get 190 psi into my Float R rear shock , i pump it up to just over 190 psi, undo the shock pump (i hear some air escaping – which I thought was normal. When I re-attach the pump the shock has lost 40psi and is only reading 150 psi – this can;t be right?

I have no problems with my Lyrik up front!

attach pump, inflate to 190psi and then remove.

Re-attach pump and some of the air from the shock fills the pump, thus reducing the pressure and hence a lower reaing.

ok yes i get you – when i re-attach pump some air escapes into the pump and this is what Im seeing disappear out of my shock – is that right?

And no problem is apparent with forks because the gas volume is a bit bigger and the pressure is a lot lower, so the pressure drop by re-pressurising the pump is much smaller.

The hiss as you disconnect is pressurised air coming out of the pump, not the shock/fork (unless you’re holding the schraeder valve open at the same time)

But the drop is never as high as 40psi surely, more like 5psi
