Comrie Croft any good for a 'liesurely' evening ride whilst staying in Perth with work
Is it signed ok?
How far a drive from Perth? How long to get round (will prob only have an hour or so)?
What else is around that's easy to find way around, don't fancy getting lost trying to find some decent trails, I'm thinking carron valley is just out of striking distance and that big hill to the east of the river I will just get lost

Dunkeld is only 20 minutes up the A9, plenty of good trails around there. If you only have an hour even heading around Kinnoul Hill (on your right from the M90 as you turn off into Perth (if heading up from the Forth Road bridge). Used to ride round there when I was at school and remember some fun trails. Was 15 years ago now
so no promises!Carron Valley is miles away, the time to get there (1.5 hours maybe) would be better spent riding anything that look like a trail. Blair Adam would be closer but still 30 minutes. Dunkeld seems the best idea to me. Not great sign posting but an easy forest to pop out somewhere you recognise and work your way back.

I did the trails at Comrie Croft a few weeks back and found them great fun. Signage was fine and the guy in the shop was exceptionally helpful. They aren't very long though, even going round twice I was done in an hour or so. I was shown a great off road route into Crieff after that which was good too.
As stevemtb says though you're only a short distance from Dunkeld, and there's got to be good riding round Perth itself I would think.

Again, if just wanting some trails around Perth itself, you could try up Magdelene hill (not Kinoull hill, the one across the river, but the one that has the ariel masts at the top). However, similar to stevenmtb, its been a good few years, so no guarantee on trail condition now.
Tourist Info may have some free maps you can use, without having to buy a full OS map.

OS map not a prob I have memory mAp on phone, went dunkeld a while ago when I was there last, fancied somewhere different and I'm staying between Perth and Crieff so en route to comrie think I'll give it a go and do couple of laps if need be

Pitmedden is good just now, and only 20 minutes away from Perth.

+1 for Pitmedden. Was there today and the trails are running pretty good with only a few mucky bits.

The new local mountain biking club (http://www.strathearnmbc.org.uk) is worth looking up. They do an evening ride every Tuesday evening, tonight it's from the Famous Grouse Experience car park about 6.45pm.
