I just bought an aftermarket bleed kit from fleebay. I was advised by the seller to clean the kit after use with water to save the kit being damaged. I am frightened that the water will contaminate any fluid used in future as I know that water neutralizes brake fluid.
Does anyone know any good alternatives that won't contaminate the fluid??

IPA - followed by a blow through should do it.

I know that seems like the obvious answer, but from what I am reading is as little as 3% water in brake fluid can create problems with air in the system. Given that there is only 10-15ml in the system I would say its easy for as little as 0.45ml not to be dried out for the next time I use.

how do you manage to get through your day if little things like your bleed kit not drying properly worry you this much?
it's something you rarely need to use, if it sets your mind at rest leave it somewhere warm to dry til next time, maybe under your pillow.

Shove it in a dishwasher on a low °C setting, let it air-dry.
Or
Rinse out with alcohol, vodka works if you've not got access to IPA (Isopropyl alcohol).
Personally, I never use bleed kits (Hope brakes), just the correct clear hose from B&Q/Homebase and an 8mm spanner.
When I did use kits, I simply drained any waste and left them to "air-off".
No harm done
