I've had my baked beans in the microwave oven for 4 minutes and they haven't even heated up a little bit. What could be the cause of this phenomenon (other than the microwave oven is ballsed)?

Bowl not hot, cup of water didn't heat up. I suspect it's molgrips' option 2.
What microwave thread? Surely it's allowed if we can have what coffee machine threads...
