I know faster is better. Quicker recovery, less load through the knees. But how fast is too fast? What is the optimum and why? Do you aim for a constant spin or just to stay in a range? What variables influence it?

I average about 100. Dunno what the optimum is, I have knee trouble even at that.

According to the SRM live tracker, some of the TDF dudes were spinning 120RPM yesterday 😯

They were also covering that distance today at just under twice the speed of my commute. Does that mean I only have to hit 60 rpm? 🙂 😀

between 90-110 is comfortable for me, although I can spin like this when i need to

I tend to spin between 80 to 110 depending on the bike ( geared or SS )

Better than I thought this morning. Didn’t drop below 80. Typically in the 90s. Often saw three figures and even saw 131 at one point!
