You hear about bikes being stolen almost every day but what i dont tend to hear about is what they were locked up with (if anything)
Sometimes they are stolen from cars or in a shed, garden or house but were they locked?

So, have you ever had a bike stolen and what type of lock did it have

    A) Nothing!
    B) Any type of cable lock
    C) U or D lock
    D) Heavy duty chain and lock

I’m hoping that nobody will report having a bike stolen secured with C or D

Only bike I ever had stolen was secured to metal railings by 2 D-locks on works property – came out to find two neatly angle ground locks and no bike – ‘security’ guard on car park saw nothing, heard nothing 😯

cable locks are useless, can easily be cut in seconds, there was a bbc programme about bike theft in london a few months ago but it is still on youtube somewhere was really interesting.

D locks are the best, mainly as a deterrant but any lock can be beaten

Had my commuting bike nicked, I wasn’t using my normal lightweight lock that day though, the bar stewards got through this thing from Abus The effort it must have taken made me think that they probably deserved the bike!

The bike was worth less than the cost of the lock too!
