Anyone know the elevation/descent of one lap of Arthur's seat, and what the steepest gradient of the climb is - maybe 7%?

Looks like about 80m gain from this thread (scroll down)

To get the specific gradient at that point I'd get your iphone out!
I usually do 20-30 laps of AS and I CBA stopping for guff like that on my way round.

20 to 30 laps!
Do you not get bored out your mind?
Do you not feel like a hamster on a wheel?

I'd rather watch the coastline erode than cycle that 30 times

Sorry guys I was kidding, I thought it was obvious only a moron would attempt something like that.

That's it, 20 laps of AS tonight!

My record is about 12 on the trot I think, but I was a climbing whippet at the time, ah the days.
Some boring people with no lives have set up a website to record your time on the climb btw, with extra points if you find any geo-caches or write down the numbers of any trains you see on the way.
I think it's called "Arthurs Seat Challenge" or something.

But fair, I think.

Heh like you never timed yourself on a training ride?

I've ridden 12 in one go too, Hels, I quite liked it
But then i like pain and climbing
I know about the challenge - never quite sure where the line is though for the finish since its long gone these days. Anyway, i'm not timing it, this is for something else.

I don't see how it's any different/worse than online race results.
But then I'm not cool

But then I'm not cool

What's a training ride?

Round and round? A good friend of mine told me today that he goes up to summit and down six times a session.

Anyone remember Drew Sharkey's sponsored 24 Hour Challenge ride around Arthur's Seat about 18 months ago? (it made STV news as I recall) I can't remember how many laps he did in the end - but it was a lot!
I rode with him for a couple hours during the night - and I can vouch that the hill seemed to get steeper on each lap...
