As the man has said many times before, he hasn’t once failed a drug test!

Read Armstrongs statement as you like but his comment to me reads morhis comment to me reads, they never found me out I’m a good cheat.

He could have released a statement saying ‘I can confirm I have never taken EPO’ but hasn’t.

    Neither has David Millar

I find Armsrongs insistence that ‘he never failed a drugs test’ as weak.

That’s not the same as clean is it? Not caught is not innocent.

I don’t doubt that he cheated but he has actually explicitly said he hasn’t

    On August 23, 2005, L’Équipe, a major
French daily sports newspaper, reported on
its front page under the headline “le
    mensonge Armstrong” (“The Armstrong Lie”)
that 6 urine samples taken from the cyclist
during the prologue and five stages of the
1999 Tour de France, frozen and stored
since at “Laboratoire national de dépistage
    du dopage de Châtenay-Malabry” (LNDD),
had tested positive for erythropoietin in
recent retesting conducted as part of a
research project into EPO testing methods.
    [80][81] Armstrong immediately replied on
    his website, saying, “Unfortunately, the
witch hunt continues and tomorrow’s article
is nothing short of tabloid journalism. The
paper even admits in its own article that the
science in question here is faulty and that I
have no way to defend myself. They state:
‘There will therefore be no counter-exam
nor regulatory prosecutions, in a strict
sense, since defendant’s rights cannot be
respected.’ I will simply restate what I have
said many times: I have never taken
    performance enhancing drugs.

Hincapie is still riding, and i really can’t see him saying anything like this, at least while he still has some sort of riding career left.

    its just uncorroborated nonsense

The reason why Armstrong never says ‘I’ve never taken drugs’ but only ‘I’ve never tested positive’ is because the US FDA investigation into him and other cyclists is geared towards convicting them for perjury, which is how they brought down BALCO. A bit like getting mobsters on tax evasion charges. So, read into that what you will. I think question of if LA doped is irrelevant now, it’s whether he’ll go down for it.

Charlie Sheen did pass the drug test – he had achieved the required levels of cocaine and cannabis!

clubber: Playing devil’s advocate here but supplying a quote from Wikipedia, the citation for which just links to a dead page, doesn’t really give us much. I’d like to see the article that quote comes from, cos apart from that I’ve only ever heard/read him maintaining he’s never failed a drug test.

    OK – It’s not so

However, you may want to prepare yourself for a disappointment in the near future

Is drug development not just like equipment development anyways? I’m sitting thinking is it so bad to use epo if they all do it. Is it any different to new bike technology making performance improvements?

What sets Armstrong’s situation apart is the business empire built around his hero status. The LA foundation (which is a business not a charity), CTS coaching, Nike, Oakley and so on. Lots of fingers in lots of pies and his credibility and hero status was part of it all. Plus of course inspiring kids with cancer who find out their hero had a little extra help.

He should be more of an inspiration by showing just how good modern drugs are. You can be as big a hero as you like but you won’t beat cancer drug free.

It’s also been rumoured that Armstrong used to rape anteaters before key TDF stages. Apparently the thrill from such an activity gave his libdo such a boost that helped him on mountain stages.
Not once has he come forward and categorically denied these allegations.
If he had the balls to stand up in front of the cameras and state that he’s never had sex with an anteater either on a consensual or nonconsensual basis, he’d clear up a lot of these allegations once and for all.
