    Hi

Ive decided I ‘need’ a helmet cam

    The specs are as follows:

    decent HD image
    weatherproof
sensible battery life to use on my commuter (yeah yeah)
    safe mounts available

But the killer is that Im also as much as a roadie as I am a MTB’er
So Id like the cam to be as stealthy and light as possible

GoPro look the business but Id rather not have one stuck on the side of my helmet hammering down a big descent at 70kph

Contour HD seem OK but I dont know much about them

    Any opinions to share?

    Cheers

Why not? In practice they’re not that much more sticky-out than any of the others, but the flipside is far better mounting options. The Contour’s a competitive camera but really loses the mounting war.

go for a gopro get the bar mount or the chest mount, my mate bought a 960hd for £150 off some site

I had a contour and got rid of it for a Go Pro, far better camera.

The contour suffers from horrendous wind rush noise due to the position of the mic.

I’ve used my GoPro on my Road bike before. You hardly feel it on your head when you’re riding and I doubt it’ll slow you down that much. Other options for mounting are always there, handlebar mounting is a good option too.

Contour or GoPro.. They both have advantages and disadvantages.

Stealthy.. That will probably be the Contour handlebar mounted then.

Here’s some footage, ContourGPS on the hardtail handlebar mounted, GoPro Chest Mounted on a Full Suss.

    The choice is yours!
