Have used Bonty ACX's and Mud X's extensively in 26" format and can say they're great tyres, so can only assume the same for 29er. They're not the biggest or most cushioning though!
Got Kenda Nevegal 2.2's on my 29er at the moment, and they're massive for a 2.2" tyre. Pretty bloody grippy too, can run them at nice low pressures, not the lightest or the fastest rolling though.
I'm keen to try the Maxxis Ardents in 2.25", they look BIG yet relatively light, and fast rolling, decent amount of side grip too by the looks of things (which is my criticism of the Kendas as they don't bite too hard when leant over). There's some fairly new offerings out there from Bontrager that look like they might be up to some cop, the 29-3 and 29-4.
Or there's the 2.25" Bontrager Jones XR F&R set that are big, fast rolling and grippy (as long as it's not muddy). Got a part worn set you can have for £20 if you wanted, I won't need them, too much mud and snow round my way!
