wow 22:36 @ 90 rpm is an astonishing 4.3mph.....

i'd rather get off and walk at that point...

32/36 is what i want it for.

Look at MTBR 29er forums, plenty of people using them. Alternative is Middleburn cranks with 20/30/40T rings.
CRC have stock of the cassettes btw.

Might be worth it for a 1x9 setup. Yes - I'm thinking of a 30T front for my 1x9 setup

you might have to change your rear mech. Shimano recommends that this cassette is only compatible with Shimano Shadow type rear derailleurs. We've run it successfully with a basic Deore (non-shadow design) with the B-tension screw all the way in. its bloody huge. get a road bike if you want to spin like that.

running slx, so it should be ok??

32:36 more or less = 22:24
6.3mph vs 6.4mph and a better chainline to boot

I'm not sure what you mean. How will a road bike get you up a steep muddy trail?

Tony, the GF has one on her bike as following a hip operation she has to spin everything / everywhere. Rear mech is a std deore, just enough clearance. I reckon it'd be great on a 1x9 29er.

Ton - have you seen the Action Tec Ti cassettes http://www.actiontec.us/ticog.htm - 11/ 36T or up to 39T !!! a bit expensive though, but much lighter than a Deore Cassette.

I thought this cassette chewed up the inside edge of the hub splines?
I looked into going this way a while but decided against it for that reason. Can't remember all the details now
