Grinduro Gravel Enduro Returns To Wales: July 2022

by 1

After the inaugural Grinduro Wales was a huge success last year, it returns to Machynlleth July 22-24 2022.

Last year saw dusty trails, sun-drenched camping grounds and plenty of smiles. Grinduro take rider feedback very seriously, and have made changes to stages this year to reflect that. Tickets are still available at £150.00 each, so check out the website here for full details of what your ticket includes, and read on for more info.

Ground-breaking mixed terrain event continues to grow with five locations in 2022,
including a return to Wales on the 22nd – 24th July. The race combines mountain bike
enduro with a gravel grinder-style road race and entries sell out fast!

Tickets for Grinduro Wales went on sale on the 28th February and are priced at £150 (plus
booking fee) for a full weekend of Maxin’ and Relaxin’ and includes 3 days of riding, inclusive
meals from Friday evening through to Sunday morning, live music and entertainment, and
camping.

Billed as the world’s most interesting bike race, we are stoked to return to Machynlleth for
another year. Races will begin in the town and head south, through woodland and quiet lanes
towards the Artists Valley, and the first of four timed stages. Once in the hills the views will open
towards Cader Idris and beyond before returning via spectacular ridges, fast swooping descents
and plenty to talk about before lunch back at the Grinduro Village.

The afternoon starts with a gentle warm up before heading into the hills once again. Waterfalls,
steep valleys and wild trails will keep riders challenged before the final descent back to camp
where the party really begins.

In keeping with the global Grinduro format, the route will take riders on an 75km loop with a
respectable 1800m of climbing. Similar to mountain biking enduro, there are timed stages where
it’s ‘no pain no gain’ and you have to give it your all for about 7 to 12 minutes. The rest of the
route lets you stick to the Grinduro “Maxin’ and Relaxin’” mantra of riding at your own pace,
enjoying the spectacular views as you ride to the next timed stage. Along with the riding, you also
get food, drinks, a mini-festival, camping, goodies, awards, a party, and a handmade bike show!

The Maxin’ starts on Friday afternoon with the Prologue; an opportunity to get your Party to Race
Ratio dialled in and race the special stage for prizes and glory. Relax in the evening to chilled
music and a carb loading meal before getting some shut-eye ready for the Grinduro on Saturday
followed by the ultimate party long into the night. Say a fond farewell to your Grinduro buddies on
Sunday morning with a gentle spin on the komoot Hangover Ride before packing up and heading
home with a head full of good time memories.

Canyon return for 2022 as host sponsor for the event, joining Grinduro founders, Giro and global
sponsors SRAM, Zipp, TIME, EVOC and komoot. Tickets go on sale on the 28th of February – keep
an eye on the Grinduro.com website for more info.

Our Amanda wondering if she should have taken a mountain bike..?
