Halo Wheels has teamed up with SP Dynamo to produce what it claims is the widest range of dynamo wheels on the market – and if they don’t have what you want, there are custom options available.
Halo makes wheels for many varieties of bike and are available in the UK through distributor Ison – who also distribute Surly bikes. If ever there was a bike that surely needs a dynamo, it’s a Surly? The long haul adventurer, the everlasting pub bike, the ‘oops, one turn too many and I got lost explorer bike’ – all can benefit from a dynamo hub.
If you’re looking to have a permanent source of power on your bike – great for lights, or even charging the ever growing array of electronic accoutrements available for the modern bicyclist – then there’s likely a wheel here to suit your needs.
There is a host of different off-the-peg options, with pricing starting at £135 for the cheapest road option. But let’s start with the ones aimed at the gravel market. These fall into two categories – the ‘Tour’ variant is built with extra spokes for greater load carrying capacity. Both have a 21mm internal rim width.
