Apparently, there is a blossoming gravel racing scene in Russia. Here is a video recap from a recent gravel race, reportedly the first of its kind in that country, called Tsukling Gravel King.
Dmitriy, one of the organizers, contacted Grit.cx and shared the video, along with a nice set of photos posted to the Russian social media network VK. The event included not only the 50K race, but camping before and after in a lovely spot near Saint Petersburg.
Word about the event was put out via this intriguing flyer, spotted on a very cool Instagram account, cyklingru. From that, Russia looks like an epic place to go bikepacking. (Part of the intrigue, I admit, comes from the fact that I don’t read Cyrillic or speak Russian. But still.)
