We’ve just got our hands on this Saxon Cross Comp from Whyte – a company predominantly associated with mountain biking, thus bringing some mountain bikey features to its drop bar bikes.
Whyte Saxon Cross
The aluminium frame has internal cable routing, including ports for a dropper-post (and why not?) and an integrated seatpost clamp. Up front there’s a relaxed 70 degree head angle for the carbon fork to slot into and more internal routing for the disc brake hose. The Whyte-branded, eye-catchingly aqua front hub gets a 15mm through axle and the fork has a tapered-steerer. It’s interesting to see some mountain bike technology and slacker geometry coming to drop barred bikes – it sounds like fun!

The SRAM Rival 1 groupset makes it go, and Rival hydraulic brakes make it stop.
The wheelset is tubeless ready – mating WTB rims to the excellently named WTB “Cross Boss” tyres.

£1499 for that lot. We’re looking forward to getting it out on the trails.
