Ashmei is pretty much unknown within the cycling world, but that could be about to changed. Well regarded as a manufacturer of stylish and quality clobber within running circles, , Ashmei is branching out into the cycling world with a few key garments.
There has been a merino theme running through the company’s products to date as the people behind the brand are fans of the performance of the natural yarn. However, more detailed perusal of the products shows they are not just simple knitted pieces. Pioneered in their running gear, a merino yarn is partnered with carbon in their jersey fabrics, and soft-shell fabrics are cleverly tailored with stretch merino panels on winter weight Jackets.
Ashmei’s first run of cycle clothing will consist of the Softshell Jacket, Bib Shorts, jersey, socks and a close fitting cycling beanie . The jacket features some nice details including small, easy access key pockets, away from area’s you’re likely to bounce on when dumping it, come icy winter roads. Pricing will match the quality of detailing, with the Softshell Jacket running to £210.00, with stock due to land early next year.
However, there is a chance to get some early bird discounts as the companies Kickstarter campaign for its cycle collection still has a couple of days left to run, with just a small amount needed to reach their funding goal. Check the campaign can be seen here for full details.
We will reserve full judgement on performance of the fit and function until we get some product in to test early next year, but if the detail we’ve seen on their running gear is matched on the cycling product there could be another worthy brand to consider consider come purchase time.
