The EC90 SL Disc wheels are a brand new offering from Easton for 2015. These carbon fibre beauties are available with a tubular rim or a tubeless-ready clincher rim, and sport a generous 28mm width, allowing more contact area for the tyres to provide a bit more of a comfortable ride.
Adding six-bolt disc brake hubs to this wheel is a logical choice, as it seems road disc adoption will likely grow rapidly in the next couple of years, and it’s already quite high in ‘cross and gravel riding. In the same spirit of looking forward, the hubs on the EC90 SL wheels can convert to accept a through-axle. We’ve seen more than a few bikes at the show this year rocking through-axles.
Easton tells us the tubeless clincher version of the EC90 SL provides a much stronger bead, which can handle up to 120 psi or more. The rim depth is 38mm, and published weight for the clinchers 1610 grams, while the tubulars top the scales at 1250 grams. Both wheels ship with Easton’s own M1 hub, and 11-speed freehub bodies.
