Eurobike 2014: Stevens Super Prestige Disc

by 0

Stevens has been a staple of the European cyclocross scene for many years, at both the pro and amateur levels. The Super Prestige is their flagship ‘cross model, and it’s seen a lot of success. Stevens didn’t completely re-do the model for 2015, but rather made some practical updates.

The Stevens Super Prestige Disc gets some updates for 2015.

The most noticeable change is that they did away with the integrated seat post. In its place is a 27.2mm post that will surely add a certain level of comfort when riding over the rough stuff. Another added benefit is that the bike will be easier to ship and travel with when the seat post can be removed. That may seem trivial, but that kind of detail is a nice feature worth mentioning.

Out with the integrated post, and in with the 27.2!

Designing cable routing with an integrated post is sort of easy since there is no post intruding through the top tube. Introduce a seat post, and things get complicated. Yet Stevens managed to get the rear brake cable in there, and exit the seat stay.

That brake cable comes right out of that seatstay.

‘Cross racers will take as much tire clearance they can get. Thus, Stevens reconfigured the bottom bracket area to give a lot more space between the frame and the tire. They also cut some material away from the outside of the drive side chainstay so mud and muck is less likely to interfere with the chain and little chainring.

More space for the chainring.
