Have a look at the data in zero friction cycling. I don’t think there’s anything between them.

Both last ages. By far the best chain I’ve used. I buy X01.

Both brilliant/last ages, buy based on which colour you like best.

I’ve XX1 on new bikes but all the others are running X01. Apart from the colour I can’t see the difference in how long they last. In my opinion it isn’t wort the extra.

    Get ours from here

I think they’re essentially the same thing aren’t they? My understanding is the XX1 uses more carbon in construction, and sheds a bit of weight for the XC crowd, but functionally no different – or at least; XO1 isn’t going to perform any worse. If 50g or so weight saving is important to you, buyXX1 otherwise XO1

X01 is my go to ebike chain. I can get 3k miles plus with one, whereas a standard chain only lasts 500 miles. It also doesn’t screw up the cassette like the cheap ones do.

It’s apparently more robust than the XX1 chain.

XX1 comes in pretty colours that the X01 doesn’t

When should I replace my SRAM Eagle chain?

    Not yet followed by anyone

Replace the chain when it reaches 0.8% wear using a Pedro’s Chain Checker Plus, Pedro’s Chain Checker Plus II, or a Park Tool CC-4 tool to measure chain wear.

Mine is at. 5 so can leave it for now

Just measured also with a steel rule and caliper, no wear at all 12 links 12″ despite the chain checker showing .5 wear!!

They are exactly the same chain, XX1 comes in fancy colours

@bikerevivesheffield 0.5% on 12″ is tiny, 1.5mm. try measuring across 5 or 600mm. Also tricky with a steel rule as there’s no anchor point. You’re trying to line it up by eye with the pin centre, or end of the link or similar.

The 0.8% thing is interesting and was mentioned recently by Adam at Zero Friction Cycling. It might be that due to the hard chrome finish on the chain, SRAM are suggesting you run chain and cassette to end of life together. Perhaps at 0.5% on the chain, your cassette is now too far gone to take a new chain. Would be interesting to find out.

However, when the chain gets to 0.8%, you will absolutely need a new cassette

Even Sram GX chains are very good. Last ages with the right lube/wax and great value.
