would you notice any difference in the performance? ie would the 10 speed be alot better for steep climbs etc with a 36t rear cassete?

what are the weight differences like?

as it seems i may not be able to go 2×10 xt, i may just bung on the new 3×10 instead….

is there any noticeable difference between 3×9 and 3×10

    peaks rider btw

    Short version:

Do you notice the difference? yes.
Is it worth shelling out when your 9-speed stuff is in good working order? No.

    Long version:
Closer rations between chainrings has a noticeable effect on front shifting both in cleaness of shifting but also closer ratios makes it more user friendly. The 36t cassette is nice but you gotta discipline yourself not to just ride in 32/36 when you’d normally manage in 32/32. Big ring gets used more often.

cheers gary..well i shall be replacing when the new xt 2012 stuff comes out, though it doesnt seem like ill be able to go 2×10 ….so i may just bang on the 3×10 stuff instead….

seems pointless at the mo buying 2011 xt stuff when the new stuff is on its way, and shouldnt be any dearer as its come down 10% according to my shop…

3×10 makes no sense at all.
