Just read this. There is no hope for us humans in the long run. Hopefully some alien comes along and tortures us all because I’m starting to think we deserve it. Not only can we not get enough of killing and hurting each other we now pay to view people doing it to other animals.

Maybe should put this on the stuff which makes me disproportionally cross thread cos its really wound me up.

I am too old to be surprised by the people in this world.

Most are normal, caring people but just a few are sick and not worthy of our time or consideration.

What makes me most angry is that the participants in this horrible business will get no more than the proverbial “slap-on-the-wrist” When I believe that most of us would like to see them locked up for a very long time – at least 10 years.

Just hearing briefly about this on the radio has left me feeling quite sick and depressed – can’t bring myself to read about it 🙁

As per the title of this thread WTF 🙁

I read about this a while back. I wish that I hadn’t. And as a doctor I’ve seen some things.

Sometimes hanging really is too good for some people.

Just read this. There is no hope for us humans in the long run.

There’s nothing new in that really is there, just the distribution of the suffering?  It’s not that long ago that it would have included fellow human beings (and probably still does actually).

The sad reality is that humans aren’t that nice really, which probably constitutes why we are the dominant species in the world and doing a pretty poor job of being the main custodians of our planet.

Hmmm, I recognise the sentiment but isn’t the point that most people disgusted by this crime are generally not fans of violence and/or murder whatever grounds you justify it on?

WRT to the various offenders, I do wonder how sentencing might actually work for them, the article suggested the US participants were facing up to 5 years in prison? seems light, but also I wonder what prison would do to any of them.

My main concern would be that anyone getting involved in something like this is somewhere along the APD/Bordeline/Psychopathy range of personality disorders(?) and actually needs some significant level of assessment with interventions. Just chuck ’em in Prison for 5 years and the person that comes back out may be even worse.

Also did they catch all of those involved? Or are there still some weirdos out there looking to start a new primate torture gang?

    I wish I hadn’t read that!

I try to remember – as above, the majority of humans are decent, caring people. These people are very much a minority.

” , but also I wonder what prison would do to any of them.”

    Well, not much apparently…

“BBC Eye identified her as a participant in a group run by a US man called Mike Macartney, a former motorcycle gang member who served time in prison”

people like this have some sickness that allows them to have zero empathy with the a living creature – as a child I cancelled a mate who was magnifying insects.  At 7 I knew this was so wrong.

Indonesia: where you can be executed for entering the country with a packet of decongestant tablets but get a maximum 8 months in prison for torture of sentient animals.

Place them in a zoo enclosure with a large amount of chimpanzees and let the games begin, I wouldn’t give a single **** what happens to them.

Came here to read some light-hearted jokes about Hartlepool .

Won’t read the link,I can imagine how horrendous it would be.

WTF do/did they get out of it?

Sitting there spanking the proverbial monkey whilst watching a literal monkey get put on a blender?

    Sick ****.

In this instance I’m happy for some vigilante action given her name has been put out there.

Just don’t understand the mindset of folks for whom this is something that they’d be willing to contemplate, let alone, set out to find it on the internet and then once you’ve found it. actively take part in it. I try not to wish ill on anyone, but I’m always willing to make an exception.

At some point a passing star destroyer might deign to finish us off. That’s if we don’t do it in the next 50 years by digging up every buried hydrocarbon on earth because <10% of the human population won’t give up their SUVs. Which we will.

If there is a supreme being out there I strongly suspect they’ve written off this experiment and are doubtful about whether to try again.

Not read the link as I’m not in a good place at the moment. Feeling very angry just reading the comments. We really are a right set of bastards as a a species aren’t we? People harp on about how great we are and what we’ve achieved as a species. Really all we have done is destroy our home and the creatures  we share it with in the name of greed and progress. We should be caretakers and doing all we can to preserve what we have left but, no, let’s torture some of our closest relatives.

I read the full story linked by Joefm, upsetting for sure but at least some good news at the end as one of the monkeys was rescued and in a sanctuary now ready to be released into the wild.

Can’t say I’m surprised though, these are the same kind of people who would be looking for something equally vile (or worse) if this network didn’t exist.

Also, you only have to read about foxhunts or badger baiting in this country to realise that some people have no empathy at all.

I’ve not read the link as I’m sure it’s sickening.

I do wonder. Are the sickos the same people who would otherwise be child molesters/ rapists whatever?

And is it perhaps better they do this than the other?

The scary thing is this is a surface-level thing on the Internet. Imagine (or not) all the utterly grim stuff lurking further down……..

I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive. Doing one doesn’t stop them doing the other. If anything, torturing animals probably desensitises these oxygen thieves to violence and abuse so they are more willing to contemplate doing it to kids. I’m sure I’ve read something about child abusers being statistically more likely to also be animal abusers . As well as more likely to have suffered abuse themselves as kids. People are just shit. This story fills me with despair.

Disgusting excuse for human beings. Also guarantee they are all paedophiles. No cure or treatment will be of use to these.

    – they need putting in landfill, with broken legs & arms.
