Anyone got one of the woodfire grills? There’s some good deals about at the moment.  We thought it would be handy for the campervan as well as easy midweek meals and the odd weekend smoked ribs.

Stayed in an air BnB that had one, was easy to use and had a variety of uses.

I didn’t consider buying one though, they are also quite big.

Yes!  Just finished using it now to cook a couple of salmon fillets.

I was sceptical, being a charcoal bbq lover, but it’s honestly really good.  Super quick heat up time, easy to use and really easy to clean.   We mainly got it as MrsBS doesn’t like the smell of fish in the house, so I can nip out and cook them quickly, but we’ve also done normal bbq items, burgers/chicken/sausages etc and had several really good smoked pulled pork joints off it.

It’s heavier than you might think but I’d still consider it ‘portable’ as long as it’s only to the back of the van/car, I’d not want to carry it far.

Ours turned up today, got one of the last Ninja Woodfire Electric BBQ Grill & Smoker OG701UK bundles (table, cover and pellet starter pack). Thought the table was foldable with wheels but seems not (or Mrs L2R bought a different bundle!) Nothing in the fridge to cook on it tonight so will be testing it tomorrow now 😉

Thanks all. I’ve ordered direct from the Ninja site. 10% keyworker discount on top of the sale price plus a free adjustable stand.

Bought cheap chips, brush and a cover in the Prime sale.

It’ll probably never go in the van but hopefully it’ll get plenty of use in the garden.

I bought one a while back.

Paid about £300 at the time, not good value for money TBH but it does a good job of adding flavour with the wood chips.

Had a look at these, didn’t even know they existed until this thread!

Looks pretty handy and not too unwieldy compared to my standard barrel BBQ.

Just a head sup also, Very have these at £199 for the unit only, but with a promo to get a stand and cover, and they do 10% cashback on BNPL. And I think you can get TCB too.

expensive, sure.  But not good value?  Depends how much you use it surely?  Some people pay a couple of hundred quid for what is basically an oil drum cut in half.  I use ours 4 or so times a week.

I don’t think I need one of these, I have a Weber go anywhere for small BBQs and smoking purposes. But it does look tempting, then you read the reviews (from the Ninja site) and it just seems to be full of people who don’t know the difference between direct and indirect grilling. So as yet, I remain unsold. I’m sure there’s more too it though and cooking outdoors is always my preference.

We did talk about it, but there’s something about sitting next to a man-fire dodging the smoke with charcoal stained hands clutching a can of Stella Artois that I refuse to relent on.

After spending too many years on BBQ forums and perfecting various things, decent charcoal, a chimney starter and wood wool fire lighters I have some initial smoke while the charcoal starts and then only if dripping something flammable onto the coals. I also swore off Stella after a particularly bad night at uni and since have had to bail on beer altogether  -stupid digestion!

How much smoke do these things produce? I’ve got a top-floor flat, so not going to be bothering any neighbours, but at the same time BBQs are prohibited…

They must’ve restocked  as the £249 deal with the folding table, civercand starter pellet packs is on again. As others have said, Blue light applies as does TCB…First bit of chicken has just gone on with corn on the cob and asparagus tips!

not loads, but there’s some on the pre warm cycle, I guess it’s burning deposits on the underside of the lid.

Just gone through this process recently.  I already have a built in BBQ/Outdoor kitchen type setup and indoors i have the airfryer etc.

I was so tempted to buy one of these ninja things (There are a few variations) or even a George Foreman XL BBQ which looks a very good budget alternative or i had a tefal version with big money off.  Prices ranged from £69 – £399 for each item.

Then i thought about it and tbh i cannot see the point.  If i want a BBQ i will light my charcoal BBQ.  If i want quick and easy with minimal cleaning my air fryer does sausages and burgers etc better than these new gadgets.  I also dont need to make room inside or outside for another gadget.

For me it became clear its just the next Ooni pizza oven fad.  I love a pizza but I could never eat enough pizzas to justify it and they arent particularly healthy to eat on a regular basis.

Not a lot. If you have a decent extractor you could use it indoors in the “woodfire” mode.

It can also be used as a standard grill and an air fryer.

I would buy again if it was for that deal with the table etc for £249.

Friends have one and served us some fantastic smokey chicken wings, but IME their expensive and (as above) an air fryer will be more versatile.

Is the build quality as poor as Ninja Air Fryers?

Good skills though for filling a niche middle class cooking problem though

Just had a fortnight in a holiday home with one. Was pleasantly surprised by it, very easy to use, waaay quicker and easier to smoke/add smoke flavour than faffing with a BBQ or smoker. Grill wasn’t quite as hot to blitz a steak as I’d like but otherwise all good. Big cote de bouef on the grill plate but with some smoke on the side was almost as good as I’ve done on the Weber at home and much easier.
