    Morning all,
    Treat me like an idiot on this question as I’m not that IT savy but;

    -I have a XP laptop that’ll support Win 10 (I have checked :O)
    -I don’t seem to get the auto update so
    -Can I buy a licence key for Win 7 or 8 and download it then auto update to Win 10?
    -Any one suggest a reliable source?

    Cheers
    Tim “still in the stone age” Burden :O)

    Is it not cheaper and easier to buy win 10 and start fresh?

    Nope – buy a Win7 from SoftwareGeeks for £27 and then upgrade if you want to when the free upgrade kicks in.
    You won’t get the free upgrade from XP-10. It’s only from 7-10.

    Or 8.1. But yeah, there’s no direct upgrade path from XP, you’d need to buy either 7 or 8.1 to qualify for the W10 freebie. When you do the upgrade, you’d have to go via W7 to do an in-place upgrade; any other method would involve wiping the hard disk and installing from scratch (which is arguably the better route anyway).

    I have a win 7 upgrade key you can have that I bought from software geeks.
    Email me and I pass on the details.
    I bought the standard key by mistake and needed the pro key!
    So this is sat doing nothing.
    You’ll need to burn an ISO file to DVD but then should be good to go.
    I’ll see if I can find the mail they sent me with the details on.
