Just remember that wide bars whilst helping make the bike more stable at speed by helping make the front track better, they slow the steering down and drop your centre of gravity. The latter means it is easier to go over the bars if you have a steep head angle when you point it downhill.
The ability to go over the bars easy means that on steep head angle bikes, e.g. Jump, 4X bikes riders use mid or higher rise bars, as this means your centre of gravity is not dropped as much and you don't eat dirt as much.
Also bar width is a personal thing but if you have narrow shoulders then wide bars will spread you out much more than someone with wide shoulders and as a result the steering will be much much slower.
