I believe Giant are the largest in the world by some margin. Merida own at least 49% of Spec. IIRC they own the majority now.

“Bicycle World” would suggest Shimano as above – whilst they don’t make actual bikes, they make almost everything else involved, and it is rare to have a bike without any kind of shimano parts, or at least shimano influenced parts.
