We have a small fridge at the shop with an ice box bit. The door has fallen off and we never use it. We could do with the extra space. Is there any way it can be removed and leave us with a functioning fridge?

anything is removable when you have a Stihl saw.

I’d say not – refrigerant runs around the channels in the ice box.

Shirely the cooling element are part of the shelf and so wouldn’t be easily removed. I’d join your local “before the tip” group on facebook and look out for a more suitable fridge

EDIT: forget everything I said – I didn’t see that there were channels in the boxing bit that probably have coolant in.

If the door is missing then surely it’s the same temp as the rest of the fridge? Can’t you just the use space to put fridge stuff in?

you might also find that that cooling element is actually what keeps the fridge cold.  There may not be another element elsewhere doing that job.  In our fridge/freezer with the freezer section up top the fridge was kept cold by a little flap with a controller that would allow the cold air down into the fridge section when needed.

Holy crow. How old is that fridge ??. I’ve not seen that style of little ice box since the 70’s.

Sure you can but take a tip off old Bill Clinton and ‘don’t inhale’

You sure the freezer bit is actually working!!

My memory of them is there should be at least an inch of ice on it with a couple of fish fingers and an ice-pop half frozen in it! 🙂
