Need some cheapo bits for the SS but the classifieds are all full of decent stuff that people want actual money for and even pink bike was a washout. What the hell’s going on? Has everyone won the bleedin lottery or summinck?

Twocked gear off ebay it is then!

    …This

I now tend to just Freecycle cheapie old stuff that I really won’t ever use again, Ebay just opens you up to a world of utter tools so it has to be worth my while before I list anything on there.

These chips, would they come with scraps? What length does it need to be?

    thestabiliser

Not long, a foot would do it, it’s a 19 inch frame so top end for a short legged freak like me.

Re scraps, yes, bleached in vinegar

Doesn’t anyone have actual mates these days? With enough bikers it shouldn’t be hard to get that stuff together. I reckon at one point me and 4 mates could have built 2 bikes from our spares boxes. I could do at least 1 myself here. 27.2 post postage from Oz?

I bought a 375mm 27.2 Giant seat post from winstanleys for abut £7 not long back.

    this one http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/39340/Giant_Seat_Post

Still, better your money goes locally though, so you should still buy the one off Rob Jackson.

According to the T.S.S.H.P.I (Thomson Seatpost Second Hand Price Index), second hand prices are holding firm, but not rising. Some of the exotic stocks have taken a dive, but it’s just seasonal adjustment. It happens every year. A lot of keen investors are getting in on the new 650b stocks, but on the whole it is a steady market. It’s not a great time of year for the lower end stocks, I’d wait till spring. The first buds normally see a rationalisation of assets by some of the bigger players. Beware major flotations from high end 26″ conglomerates though, as 650b takes hold stocks are going to come down but not drastically so.

TSSHPI, I like it. Always a cornerstone of stability the Thomson seatpost.

If you look at the TSSHPI closely you’ll see it rose steadily and then via’ed off quite abruptly.

I’m interested in the TSSHPI, how much for a straight silver 27.2 & does anyone have one for sale?

So as an asset-rich, cash poor mountain biker with a 120 litre box of tat to sell… How do you post a handlebar these days? And why in the name of god do I have 4 spare bashrings, 5 sets of spare brakes, 7 stems…

(these are the spare spares, not the spares)

Hmm, I’m thinking of stripping and splitting my old One-One 456 hard tail but this thread is giving me second thoughts that it won’t actually be that worthwhile 😕

I sent one using one of the drop-off couriers, but even that wasn’t cheap-cheap.

Last bar I sold I packed in a cardboard tube. Royal Mail have a different rate/size reg for these.

That’s great advice Oldboy, cheers! I had no idea.

“Roll or cylinder shaped parcels larger than these sizes can be posted as Medium Parcels up to and including 90cm in length and up to and including 104cm (length plus twice the diameter)”
